I had been suffering what doctors in the UK initially diagnosed as sciatica symptoms, however the pain escalated to the point that I was unable to sit/sleep on my back/stand or even put my socks on. We were due to come on holiday to Goa, and we did, but I was unable to sit on the 10 hour journey from Manchester to Goa without being in agonising pain.
An MRI at Manipal Hospital showed two slipped discs, and I was referred to Dr Sunny Kamat on Friday, and after an initial consultation with him, I decided to opt for the surgery instead of the Cortisol injection - Dr Kamat was very confident that the surgery was the only way to go, due to the damage/bulge my discs were in. No amount of physiotherapy would fix my herniated discs. The operation was booked on Monday (3 days later).
A couple more sleepless nights and agony (even the Fentanyl patch wasn’t helping the pain) ensued before Monday arrived.My initial worries about hospitalisation in a foreign country were soon put to rest though. ***** **** *** ***** ** ** **** ********* ** *** ** *** ***** ** ****** ** *** ********* ******** I can’t thank everyone involved enough at the Manipal hospital! I’m feeling like there’s hope now after all the agonising pain has disappeared. Onwards and upwards to recovery! Thank you so much Dr Kamat for everything you have done. Based on my personal experience, I 100% recommend Dr Kamat for this unique type of spinal surgery. Apparently, only a few UK hospitals perform this calibre of surgery. Dr Kamat completed part of his specialty training in Germany. With his unique set of skills, ********** experience and expertise, Dr Kamat would be huge asset to any hospital in the world! I dread to think how long I would have been waiting had I opted for the surgery in the UK.
